In GA Safe and Sound

So the trip happened thanks to a lot of very kind people.
The medical supply company guy who offered to make a delivery to Bailey (even though they normally will only ship stuff to us) si we could have enough supplies and formula to last the trip.
The pharmacist who have us the with insurance price on Wesley's medication even though our insurance wouldn't pay for it.
Julie who not only agreed to take me to the airport last minute but sat through Wesley's therapy, drive around the entire DIA parking garage looking for a spot, and walked me all the way to my gate so I didn't have to go through security alone.
Southwest airlines for letting me put Wesley in his car seat in an empty seat without paying extra so I didn't have to hold him in my lap the whole time.
And to top it off the old navy vet who thanked me for Colby's service to our country and said he admires "my spunk" for carrying 2 suitcases, pack n play, stroller, carseat, and Wesley to the rental car place (without a cart because they weren't allowed that far :-) ).
Wesley did well on the plane (barely fussed at all). We are here, checked into our hotel. Wesley is hooked up to his feeding pump and us sleeping soundly. Tomorrow we will drive the rest of the way to Ft Benning and meet up with Colby. Yay!!

    Good morning Megan! Thank you so much for sharing your story- heartwarming and so real. I just learned of your blog from Ruth- what a precious baby and what an intense journey. Please know that a lot of us are "with you" - and would love to help in whatever capacity- from baby sitting to transport or errands. Enjoy your time in Georgia! In my quest for books to support me in this journey I've ended up on, I found a book called Same Lake, Different Boat . It is written for Christians (particularly church leadership) to help them learn to minister to people with disabilities and their families. Although I am not necessarily the intended audience for this book, it has more profoundly impacted me than all the books I've read and I'm only on chapter 4 (I read the first chapter 3 times it was so good). I desperately want to plagiarize the first chapter here because I know I won't summarize it as well as she wrote it. Perhaps it won't be as profound of a revelation to you as it was to me (maybe it was just God speaking to me at that moment), but if it is, please buy the book (or read the first chapter on Amazon) to get the full impact. A Different Boat

I periodically get the bug to write a blog again.  As I thought about a couple different blog ideas, I meandered over and started reading old blogs I've written and came to two conclusions. 1) I have grown tremendously over the last 8 years.  Reading my own words about my hopes, fears, and experiences over Wesley's lifetime so far, I can recognize a ton of learning and maturing that has happened in that time.  I know a ton about systems I didn't know even existed 8 years ago.  But more than that, I have had to wrestle with so many big emotions and challenges that I'd been spared from for most of my life up to that point.  I cringe a little to read the naivety in some of my posts and I wonder how I will look back at the words I'm now writing in 10 years.  I guess I hope I will continue to grow so I will be able to see the immaturity I have now through more wise eyes.  And hopefully can read with grace and kindness towards the person I am today. ...

Wilder

I feel like a competent writer when I am trying to express my philosophical or theological ideas or talking about abstract or societal concepts.  When it comes to telling my story, I find it much harder to express the depth of an experience.  It seems like everything I write down, although internally filled with enormous emotional weight, comes out cold and clinical.  Nevertheless, over the last several months I have slowly been processing through the traumatic memories of Wilder's first weeks to begin to write down our experience.  Years from now, when more of the details have faded I'm hopeful I will be glad to have this record.  So forgive the disjointed, clinical explanation writing as this was as much about processing for me as about sharing the story.   Almost a year ago, I was 36 weeks pregnant with my 4th child when my 7 year old suddenly spiked at 103 degree fever.  Next came a sore throat and then a rash all over his torso.  So of...
