Feeding "Bad Dream"

Well Wesley's feeding status has moved from nightmarish to just bad dream-ish.
First of all our new insurance decided after several rounds of paperwork that Wesley's formula is indeed a medical necessity so they will cover it, YAY! Praise God. The longer we've had Wesley on just the formula the more his rash has gone away. It still is heart breaking to not be able to breast feed him since that was such an awesome bonding time, but I keep telling myself it is better for him in the end. I still have days though where I long for that intimate time with him and wish I could go back.
Another good from today was he took 10 of his 20 ounces he is supposed to get a day through a bottle. This is huge for him since he was hardly taking anything through a bottle just a month ago. We still have a long way to go for him to be free from using his g-tube but this is finally some movement in the right direction.
I'm still jealous of people whose babies take 5+ ounces at a time or who eat in 10 minutes. It takes at least 30 minutes to get Wesley to take 2 1/2 ounces at a time. But just like everything else, he is progressing at his own pace and as long as he is moving in the right direction
we have to stay positive. I was telling another mom yesterday that parents always complain that their babies grew up too fast. Well since Wesley is progressing more slowly, I just get extra time in each phase of his life.
So here are the positives: He is eating more at a time now than he had been; he rarely screams like he is in pain anymore; he doesn't throw up every feeding anymore; and I'm not dreading feeding times as much.

  2. I am so glad the insurance company has decided to cover his formula! Insurance can be so difficult sometimes. I have dealt with them many times over the years but usually end of up having them work in our favor. Hopefully, they will continue to help you out.

  3. I'm not surprised you are such an amazing mother. Though it may not seem it to you,you are well equipped to handle this with God. Wesley has just the right parents to love him, care for him and to teach him about Jesus.
